NOLA Airbnb hosts get hands on for a volunteer event

In coordination with HandsOn New Orleans, a volunteer service recruitment organization, over two dozen Airbnb hosts came together in Mid-City on November 12 to help re-paint a bunkhouse for volunteers traveling to New Orleans to support flood relief efforts.

Hosts arrived at 9:00am and immediately grabbed paint rollers and pans and got to work. Many hosts noted how rewarding it was to lend a helping hand, and to participate in a community event with other hosts.

I would definitely volunteer to do this again! I had an amazing time,” says Airbnb host and NOLA home sharing club member Marty Smith. “Everything was so well organized and ready to go when we arrived. Things couldn’t have gone better!

The outing was a success, with hosts painting several rooms and engaging with one another over the 3-hour period.

With the re-painting project now complete, HandsOn NOLA is currently using the building as living quarters for the influx of volunteers assisting with the rebuilding process in New Orleans as part of the flood relief efforts.
