NOLA hosts organize and get energized at home sharing meetup

On September 15th, over 150 members of New Orleans’ home sharing community came together for a host-organized meetup at The Courtyard Brewery, a popular local pub, for a night of networking, learning and, most importantly, face time with fellow home sharers.

“I had very healthy and interesting conversations. It was very good to mingle amongst the other Airbnb-ers. I’m glad I attended the event.”

– Dwana Makeba, Airbnb host, Bayou St. John

The, 2-year-old, host-lauded Courtyard Brewery is NOLA’s first nano-brewery, and lives up to its namesake with a large, open courtyard that makes up a majority of the establishment. Taylor Made Wings, a local favorite food truck, provided a delicious array of “Naw’lins” essentials including dirty rice, crab pasta and hushpuppies.

The group also acknowledged the upcoming October 6th City Council hearing on short-term rentals, and exchanged ideas and thoughts about the future of home sharing in the Crescent City.

“The meet up gave hosts more chances to talk to other hosts,” said Steve Diniz, an Airbnb host in the Marigny. “Everyone seemed to be good, responsible people who welcome regulated home sharing.”
